October smocktober

Here I am, again, repenting of the glaringly neglectful way in which I treat my blog. Forgive me dear friends. Why don't we just go ahead and say that I deliberately chose not to blog over the summer so that I could enjoy the pleasures of the season in its entirety. Yeah, that sounds good, and prudent.

Okay, now that the initial awkwardness is out of the way, how about an update? Well, my summer was just what I needed it to be. It was warm and sunny w/ just enough evening thunder and lightning storms to make it exciting. I joined the aerobics class in town and stuck with it every week, and now that it's fall, they are offering two a week! Regular exercise is something I've always wanted and needed, but I'm just not a runner or a 'gym person', so this is just perfect for me. I even have my own aerobic step!

My boys are growing up! Nolan turned two a month ago, and his vocabulary has exploded in the last few weeks. He will repeat fairly well any word I give him, and although he doesn't say it perfectly, he's understandable. For instance, 'pay BA-be-BALL' is a common phrase lately, and during the night I often hear him whining 'where ma PA-pa-pier?' Any guesses?

Levi has lost any and all remnants of toddlerhood and is officially sporting a 'big boy' badge. Although I haven't technically measured him in months, if the pile of trousers being handed down to little brother is any indication, this kid is getting tall! He's still such a sweetie though, yesterday he asked if he could snuggle w/ me to keep warm. I thought to myself, 'well if you would put some clothes on besides underwear, you might stay warm on your own' but I kept that to myself and soaked up his sunshine for 30 whole seconds!

And now it's October, Thanksgiving this year was spent w/ this family in their home, and supper was just so tasty and I'm just so... thankful to have friends who are also far far away from their loved ones on holidays so we can lift each other up during what could be very lonely times.

Oh, and if you didn't know already, Shawn and I are raising support to go on staff with YoungLife Skateboarding (aka SkateLife, which I will reference it as in the future) and would really really love as many prayer/financial supporters as we can get! Please sign up for our email newsletter (that will go out shortly) if you haven't already. I will get a post up soon detailing this awesome ministry and what our future plans are looking like!
