There was a year in my life when I thought it was a perfectly legitimate life plan to stay up until 3am making dance videos or playing cards every single night. There may have been a few groggy regretful mornings when 8am classes came way too early, but on a whole, that was one of the best years of my life and the relationships that formed in those early hours of Prairie dorm life are like gold. 8 girls in particular made deep imprints on my heart and although we have all gone on separate journeys that have taken us far away from each other, we have somehow managed to stay close through blogs, emails, and every so often we get to visit in person. This year I have been particularly blessed w/ having one of these beautiful friends as a neighbor and have had many visits with others. I think I've taken these connections and even these ladies for granted over the last 6 years, I expect that they will always be just a click away, or if I am really desperate, a car trip or plane ride away. This weekend another friend I know from college made the comment that she thinks it's wonderful and unique how I've stayed so close w/ these girls since graduation. I was suddenly struck that this didn't happen for everyone, this IS unique! It IS a gift! One of the joys of visiting is watching our children play together. My son has had the opportunity of teaching two little girls how to jump on their very expensive organic beds. Here are some photos of the most recent visits.
It is a wonderful gift indeed.
